Aloha,
I am an artist and have enjoyed the creative process my entire life. My watercolor paintings weave together contemporary, intoxicating, colorful, and engaging scenes with motifs drawn from the normal and queer social interactions that we encounter every day with family members, friends, and other individuals.
To view my work is akin to taking an interactive virtual journey around a whimsical abstract world populated by flamboyant or modest characters that remind us of people we know, we forgot, or might have imagined in places that we might have been or dreamed about.
As your journey unfolds, smiling, awkward, blissful, blank, or confused faces pop out at you. Solitary figures present themselves wanting to engage. Couples or groups interact with each other inviting you to be a part of their imposed world, a balanced scape of lines and swirls. More often than not, these characters are adorned with jewelry, tattoo's, and always conceived in bright colors.
You may not be entirely sure to whom you have been introduced or where you are. However, your surrounding are relaxed and always comfortable. The characters somehow vaguely familiar, friendly, and never intimidating allow for the luxury of a good long stare, a conversation, and a new or renewed friendship.
I was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin where I received most of my formal artist education. I lived, worked, and created for many years in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and Sausalito, California. I currently reside in Hāna on Maui where I have been painting for the past 40 years continually inspired by the environment, culture, and people in Hawaii.
My art has been exhibited in many galleries and businesses and currently hangs in the homes of the most prestige individuals around the world. I have created over several thousand paintings. Most of my art is painted on Arches French archival rag paper. Before framing, most of my paintings are 22in x 30in (56cm x 76cm) large. I work with a wide variety of bright watercolors, pen, ink, and pencil. Under blue light, my images become three-dimensional bringing the viewer into a new realm of consciousness.
My original art work is sold unframed. Fine art prints on different material and in different sizes are also available. Prices are available upon request. Private in-person showings of my art work are available at my studio in Hāna.
